The Role of Victim Services

It is no secret that crime has a destructive influence upon our society. This influence can be even more devastating when the crime is personal. To a victim of crime, the demoralizing consequences can remain evident for days, weeks, months or even years after the event.

Chaotic and overwhelming are often how the aftermath of a crime, natural disaster, accident or emergency can seem to a victim. Family, friends and even those who witnessed the event, can feel the impact in the same way.

Victim Services Helps Victims And Their Families Get Their Lives Back On Track

In response to the needs of victims, the Wetaskiwin Municipal RCMP and Rural RCMP, in partnership with the Wetaskiwin and District Victim Services Society developed this Victim Services Unit.

Aiding and Assisting Victims of Crime and Tragedy

Victim Services provides support, information and appropriate referrals which aid in minimizing the crisis. Helping the victim(s) regain stability results in an improved quality of life. Our services are:
  • provided by a team of well-trained volunteer advocates
  • available on a 24 hour basis
  • and are free and confidential.
Geographical Area

We serve the same area as the Wetaskiwin RCMP Municipal and Rural Detachments. This includes City of Wetaskiwin, County of Wetaskiwin up to Battle Lake, Town of Millet, and the summer villages on the south side of Pigeon Lake.
